MAC Welding & Fabrication Model Framework

The Maritime, Agriculture & Natural Resource, and Construction (MAC) Welding & Fabrication Project is a statewide, open-source model framework funded by Career Connect Washington. Built with industry partners, MAC provides accessible, scalable welding and fabrication frameworks aligned with OSPI and Department of Labor career clusters.

Why It Matters

Welding demand is growing rapidly—336,000 new welding professionals will be needed nationally by 2026 (American Welding Society). MAC expands high-quality explore, prep, and launch programming so students across Washington, especially in rural and underserved communities, can access industry-aligned welding education using both steel and aluminum.

What MAC Provides

·       Free, open-source, cross-sector frameworks

·       Alignment with industry standards and OSPI requirements

·       Faculty professional development

·       Scalable models for K–12 and postsecondary programs

·       Statewide partnerships across maritime, agriculture, natural resources, and construction

Phase II: Scaling Statewide

MAC is now expanding to serve all sectors using welding across Washington State. The initiative addresses industry demand, improves regional access, and strengthens pathways from K–12 to postsecondary and employment.
